Here stands a wretched soul,
A truly awful creature,
Who justice demanded Hell must have,
The utterly unlovable,
Infinitely loved by Jesus Christ.
Here stands a wonder of Creation
A long-dead heart alive,
An arch-rebel welcomed as a child,
The sinner declared a saint,
And by the Maker’s touch forever changed.
Here stands a pilgrim,
A weary soul longing for home,
Striving daily against a ceaseless foe,
The bleating, helpless sheep,
By the Father’s faithful love pushing on.
Here stands a restless dreamer,
With an immortal hope,
Whose faith will give way to sight,
The dark veil of life,
Soon gives way to glorious Light.
Here I stand.
